I have heard about them from several cake friends and many have contacted them to no avail. It's time!

Okay everyone... step ONE:
Take a look and see if you recognize anyone's work.
Let us know in the comments here and we will send them a note letting them know their work has been stolen (this way we don't all send the owners a million emails)

Step 2:
Use her contact page! TELL her what you think of her thieving ways! Specifically identify any cakes you recognize and tell her that the owners have been contacted. If there are any of your photos, then advise her that you want them removed immediately or you will pursue further action.
Tell your friends and ask them to contact her as well.
Step 3:
We will give her one week to take them down; then we will proceed to contacting her host if necessary.
We will also keep her on the watch list, even if she does remove the offending photos... don't want any re-offenders!!
I found Louis's cake on there yesterday. I notified her by email but haven't gotten a response. She normally takes a couple days to respond, she's so sweet when she does! Her cake is from cakejournal.com it's the tiered one with the sweet little fairy on top.
ReplyDeleteOn her cupcake page there is a tiered display, blue with black and has Holly embossed in the mini top cake. This is a photo that belongs to Kylie Lambert of Le Cupcake. I've seen it on flicker, but it seems this site has flipped the presentation of the shot.

holly cow, saw a cake of rouvalee's on this site!! You can tell some of them she has made the background burgundy!, also her work takes a dramatic turn for the better if you look further thru the pictures.
ReplyDeletethe pacman cupcakes are made by hello naomi cakes.

I actually already informed Hello Naomi as well as Kylie lambert - before I found this site-that their cupcakes and cake are posted on her site.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a topic that was deleted from cake central forum ( im not sure why with all the other nastiness going on there, but they frown upon stolen pic threads)

ReplyDeleteIn the birthday cake section, the pirate cake belongs to Sharon Zambito.
ReplyDeleteThe character cake with the teapot house on this website's flash on the splash page belongs to Lorraine McKay, sugar artist from Scotland. She is on Facebook.
ReplyDeleteThat character cake I mentioned before is in the birthday cakes gallery, along with another theived picture, the teletubbies cake...same creator, Lorraine McKay.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to get some clarification on this topic. How do you know when you are or are not allowed to copy a cake design? For example there are a ton of different decoraters doing elmo & cookie monster cupcakes all using the same technique but obviously someone came up with the idea, so when is it stealing? I recently copied the caterpillar cupcake because a client asked for it. I first went online & looked up a picture & found one in google images. Which I copied. Only later did I find out that the orginal cake decorater (in canada i believe) actually had a go at the decorater that I copied for not crediting her work. Now I feel guilty for also not crediting her, but it was by pure chance that I even know that she created it & really how do I know she did not also copy it? Personally the cakes that I put up pictures of I expect to be copied. I don't however expect that people use my photo as their work (do it yourself). Can I get people's view points on this, as I am only new to the industry & find this part of it very confusing & intimadating? Thanks SJ

ReplyDeleteOH MY, she has one of my photos including the watermark saying "Nati's Cakes"
ReplyDeletethat's hilarious!!!!
my cake ( and others') are still on there....
ReplyDeleteI've found one of my cakes!!!!! In the section 'All Occasions' there's a LV bag cake... which is MINE!
ReplyDeleteI do not have a problem with anyone copying one of my cake designs. However, using my actual photograph is not on. I'm going to email her immediately.
Yea I'm with Relznik. I don't mind people copying my designs but as long as they don't take my photo and claim it as their own.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes get inspiration (sometimes copy direct) from other's work. I'll give credit to those I know but for some, I just don;t remember where I get the picture from (coz I have a collection of cake photos). But i'd still mention that the design was copied from somewhere..
I found my photo on here too. The wedding cupcake tower. I have no probs with people using the design but c'mon, make your own bloody cake and take your own photo - it's shameful to take credit for someone elses work!
ReplyDeleteGuys... let's be reasonable here... the past owner of this site has contacted me because she has received death threats! PLEASE keep your comments to addressing cake photos; these people are PEOPLE... death threats over cake is utterly ridiculous.
